Juniors take part in Battalion (Cornwall) and District (West of England & Channel Islands) competitions in early spring. Events include unihoc, 5-a-side football, tug of war, team games and figure marching.
Our youngest members represent the Company at the annual Battalion (Cornwall) Anchor Fun Day which takes place at Camborne Parish Church on a Saturday in late winter / early spring. There’s fun and games, stories, craft and a prize for the best fancy dress!
We also arrange a summer day outing for the Anchors to a local theme park or attraction.
We take part in a wide variety of events throughout the year and you will find up to date event details listed on Facebook. Below is a summary of a typical BB year:
Aged 11-15
Company Section
The whole company (apart from the Anchors for age reasons) take part in a range of additional activities such as monthly `club nights’ and social events, an annual sponsored walk and for those over 14 the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. And that’s not including experiencing the famous `Semmens Sausage’ on the BBQ!
Our Thursday sessions from the end of May until the end of August are `non-uniform’ for all sections as we go out and enjoy sport and games during what we hope are long summer evenings.
The Company Section also have Battalion and District competitions with trophies available for unihoc, 5-a-side, cross country and squad drill.
Company Section boys and girls also enjoy leadership training including workshops.
Senior boys and girls (or should that be young men and women) take part in a range of events throughout the BB year and often support and lead the events of the other sections.
Senior members and NCOs are encouraged to take an active part in running the Company.
