Welcome to our Website which I hope you will enjoy browsing to see what we do here at the 1st Redruth Boys’ Brigade, or `BB.’

The 1st Redruth BB Company is part of a worldwide movement started in 1883 by Sir William Alexander Smith on two pillars, that of Spirituality and Discipline. What that means for us here at the 1st Redruth is that we help our boys and girls develop their individuality, self respect, respect for others, competitiveness and self belief within a Christian setting.

Some people argue that the days of the uniformed youth organisation are numbered. This is certainly not the case at the 1st Redruth where our membership has increased rapidly over the last year and now stands at just over 25. A typical Thursday evening involves Parade and Inspection, followed by structured `badge work’ sessions where the children work towards annual awards for their various age groups. We then play sports and other team games to round off the evening.

We also take part in Church services usually once a month and also work towards annual competitions against other BB Companies at Battalion (Cornwall) and District (West of England and Channel Islands) level. In fact our Junior Section walked away with 7 out of the 8 available trophies at this years District Competition!

As you may see from the `Officers’ page on this site the Company Officers have nearly 100 years of BB experience between us - but we are very young at heart!
